Leslie Appiah, MD, is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist with fellowship training in
pediatric and adolescent gynecology and expertise in Oncofertility. She is an associate professor
of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and a member
of the Section of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr.
Appiah attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in
Dallas, TX, and completed residency at the Sinai Medical Center of Baltimore, MD. Dr. Appiah
subsequently completed a research fellowship in reproductive genetics at Baylor College of
Medicine, Houston, TX, a clinical fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Texas
Children’s Hospital and is an American Society for Reproductive Medicine Clinical
Research/Scientist Training (CREST) Scholar.
 
Dr. Appiah serves at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James
Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute where she is medical director and
founder of the Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Health Program. Through the program,
Dr. Appiah collaborates with oncologists and reproductive specialists to provide fertility
preservation services and comprehensive reproductive care to adolescents and young adults
with cancer diagnoses. The role involves serving as principal investigator of sponsored and
investigator-initiated research protocols in addition to participating in Children’s Oncology
Group protocols.​ At Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Appiah leads the development of the Adolescent
and Young Adult Endometriosis and Chronic Pelvic Pain Program and cares for children and
young girls with disorders of the female reproductive tract.​
At the national level Dr. Appiah is chair of the Pediatric Initiative Network of the Oncofertility
Consortium and serves on the Research and Program Committees for the North American
Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG). She is also chair of the Fertility
Preservation Special Interest Group of NASPAG and chair-elect of the Pediatric and Adolescent
Gynecology Special Interest Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
